Neocutis VS. SkinMedica, Growth Factors & More

Posted by Angel Elliott on

One of the most common questions we receive almost on a daily basis is “Which brand is better: Neocutis or SkinMedica?” While both brands are absolute powerhouses in the field of dermatology (for good reason), they both have their pros and cons. Deciding which brand is better for you is dependent on many factors, nevertheless, read below to see how we’ve answered this age old question you all are finally dying to know!

Let’s begin with Neocutis, a brand known for their line of extensive products focused on improving the signs of aging and discoloration on the skin. Neocutis was founded in 2003 following years of extensive wound healing research conducted at the prestigious Medical School at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland. Two years later in 2005, they introduced the world to PSP (Processed Skin Cell Proteins). No doubt their most infamous creation and widely used ingredient, PSP combines an optimal blend of nourishing proteins and polypeptides and harnesses the power of Human Growth Factors to help deliver state of the art skin revitalization. Now if you’ve ever tried to reverse the hands of time on your skin, chances are you’ve been told by your doctors, friends, or colleagues about Necoutis and their line of PSP products and how this is the best solution to making your skin look years younger. Well, many studies have been conducted trying to prove if these claims are in fact true and here’s what one study published in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy discovered: With a 6-month treatment of skin care products with PSP, 45% of individuals reported an improvement in skin elasticity and tightness, while 55% reported an improvement in facial lines and wrinkles. The study further found 64% of patients with improved facial tone and texture, 73% reported improved skin hydration, 100% of the patients liked the way the product felt on the skin and 91% stated they would continue using Neocutis products with PSP after this 6-month treatment period. So, it’s safe to say they did know what they were talking about when recommending these products. But, you’ve already known that Neocutis was a great brand, how does it stack up to SkinMedica?

Co-founder, the renowned dermatologist Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick, had a vision to develop a better way to slow the aging process and unlock the potential of the skin to heal from within; and in 1999, the groundbreaking scientifically based skin care line called SkinMedica® was born. One year later, the patent for their famous TNS (Tissue Nurtrient Solution) was awarded and finally in 2001 the creation of their product TNS Recovery Complex was introduced on the market. While like Neocutis’s PSP, SkinMedica’s TNS was actually the very first topical Growth Factor solution, paving the way for brands like Neocutis to create their very own line of products. And just like Neocutis, SkinMedica has also conducted its fair share of clinical studies, and the results are quite astonishing. Look below at some of the before and after pictures of patients using some of their products.

So, how do we answer the question? While we absolutely LOVE Neocutis products (Lumiere Eye Cream and Journee are some of our faves), SkinMedica has got the edge in our book. Their creation of TNS has pioneered the extensive lines of Human Growth Factor products, and without them, their would be no Neocutis PSP. The results their products produce are some of the best a customer can experience, and their team’s dedication to providing long-term solutions for the health of your skin is rivaled by none.

But that doesn’t mean you have to give up using your Neocutis products, in fact, using them in conjunction with SkinMedica products can give you one of the best daily skincare regimens there is! Feel free to contact us here to speak with us more on creating your ideal skincare regimen.
